Neighbor Day Weekend

My youngest daughter snuggled into me this morning on the recliner. She had just gotten out of bed for the day and carried her seemingly ever-present-when-she-first-wakes-up purple blanket down with her. She rubbed it against her face. She’s in first grade, so I delight in these moments. They are becoming increasingly rare. “I’m excited aboutContinue reading “Neighbor Day Weekend”

That’s How We Roll.

The grass felt damp and cold under me. The late summer sun was setting and the warm day was giving way to a crisp evening. I wasn’t prepared. My jacket was in car. I guess I’d need to adjust my thinking now that fall was fast approaching. It’s jacket season, Christy. Like it, or not.Continue reading “That’s How We Roll.”

Just visiting.

The pictures in my iPhoto library scrolled in front of my eyes like credits rolling on a screen at the end of a movie. Only faster. I was feeling a little uneasy in my stomach. Granted, I could have been getting motion sick from the quick movement (No, really. I’m serious. This happened to me onceContinue reading “Just visiting.”

Math is easier without numbers.

I don’t have a beautiful mind like the guy in the movie by that title who is a brilliant mathematician. In fact, when it comes to math, my mind is anything but beautiful. Equations go into my mind to scoff and mock. “Larry, get a load of this mind! She’ll never get us. We’re safe here!” (Yes, mathContinue reading “Math is easier without numbers.”

Home Base.

When I was 10 years old, my dad took the position of pastor at Emmanuel Community Church. Six weeks later, my mom died suddenly in our kitchen while sitting at the table. She had been reading a book, and drinking a cup of coffee when she began to collapse. Needless to say, it was aContinue reading “Home Base.”

Conversation Cafe Podcast

I will doing some traveling and speaking in the coming months (starting tomorrow!) and will be sharing about the messages in my new book, Brownie Crumbs and Other Life Morsels. But, before the “live” speaking started, I was able to record three podcast interviews- two of which have already been posted. I really enjoyed thisContinue reading “Conversation Cafe Podcast”

So, I released my first book this week.

I’ve carried three babies to term and have given birth to each. And as of Tuesday, I feel as if another pregnancy has resulted in the birth of a 14.7 ounce 6 x 9 inch baby book. Mother and baby are doing well, although the three year gestation of this one was a doozy. But she’sContinue reading “So, I released my first book this week.”

Podcast Interview Link

It’s been quite the day around here with the launch of my first book, Brownie Crumbs. I’ll fill you in on more details later, but for now, I wanted to share this link with you. This is a podcast interview I did with Nancy Carmichael of Logospost.com. I share about several messages from the bookContinue reading “Podcast Interview Link”

It’s My Book’s Birthday!

Today, after three years of labor, my book has been born! (Phew!) I’m so excited to announce that my first book, Brownie Crumbs and Other Life Morsels, is now available on Amazon in paperback, and for the Kindle. You can find it here:   Also, I had a book trailer made to give everyone aContinue reading “It’s My Book’s Birthday!”

All the feels.

There’s this phrase that young and cool people say now-a-days. When someone is feeling really emotional, good or bad, they say they have “all the feels.” Because I am not a cool person (and my young-ness is debatable, at a week shy of 39), I don’t often (ever) use this phrase. I tend to be pretty traditional.Continue reading “All the feels.”
